Founded almost 30 years ago, the CCHS works to protect animals from overpopulation, abuse, and neglect in Lincoln County by partnering with the county animal shelter to provide programs for the animals and the people who care about them and live with them. Our efforts include a spay/neuter program, a feral cat program, an emergency pet food bank, emergency medical care, animal cruelty investigation, and humane education.

One of our most important activities is our ADOPTION OUTREACH PROGRAM at the animal shelter. We create opportunities to get the Shelter animals out in to the community to be seen and adopted.  CCHS volunteers largely man these events.  Several of our members also volunteer at the Shelter.  We began the current volunteer program in 2004 and have now turned it over to the Shelter to run.  In the Shelter we provide a wide variety of services such as (A) giving love and company to lost, lonely, or abandoned animals; (B) providing exercise, and social adjustment; as well as (C) the more mundane jobs of "scooping poop" or "pushing paper". Each one is an important part of these animals' lives.

The leadership of the organization has changed through the years, but our goal has always remained the same - to help as many animals as possible in Lincoln County so they do not suffer from overpopulation, abuse, or neglect. We carry out programs that make a real, measurable difference in animals' lives.

To that end,the leadership provides the drive and direction of the society. It is the source and the driving force behind the activities of the society such as the fund raising to allow all the programs to continue. Their unselfish devotion ensures that the animals of Lincoln County are well treated. This leadership is provided by the Board of Directors.
